Roll over, roll over
In the meantime, I finally told my principal that I am not coming back. Not for ‘08 either. Yikes! I must say it put me into a bit of a panic attack this first month. I know we saved money for this and Mr. K makes enough for us to do it, but mentally it is draining to think of not having nearly $45 K a year income. But we’ll make it work. Hunter says it can work and he should know. So I put a few things on craigslist and ebay and have taken a one day a week babysitting job for $10 an hour (3 hours). The little guy I am sitting for is named Leo and he’s 2 weeks older than Mally. They both napped 2 hours of the first day so if they continue that it’ll be just fine.
I am starting to wonder…how does a person’s house get so messy so fast when they do not have a job? I remember babysitting for this lady…who shall remain nameless…and I remember her crying one day because she left the wet laundry in so long that it mildewed and ruined some of her daughter’s clothes. At the time I thought to myself “How in the world can you not get laundry done? You don’t even work!” Now as a mother I think “Ok, I did over 20 loads of laundry this week. And I only have one kid. Whose clothes are microscopic. How on earth did she ever get ANY laundry done?” Honestly, last week I washed loads of towels, sheets, baby sheets, baby blankets, baby clothes light and dark, adult clothes light and dark, cold and warm. It is never ending. On the upside, at least I DID the laundry. The dishes are piled high in the sink. One thing about cooking more at home is more dishes. Yuck.
Well, I am going to my first playgroup today at 3. We’ll see how that goes. It’s a group of parents whose kids will feed into the elementary school that Mally will go to. Hopefully I will meet some nice people and find out what they think about the school.
